Earthquakes
The west coast of the U.S. is continuously rocked by earthquakes. Most people think that California is the state that needs to prepare for earthquakes, but like California, Oregon is very susceptible to large subduction zone earthquakes. In this unit we will investigate how earthquakes are generated, what forces are involved, the elastic-rebound theory, Oregon's risk for future devastating earthquakes, historical earthquakes, and tsunamis.
